Haku Namah Tantra Micellar Gel Exfoliator | Review

There are innumerable exfoliators in market with different percentages of AHA & BHA. Though they work amazingly well for oily acne prone skin, my needs were somewhat different for my active acne. I wanted something strong with BHA that can work at pore level (the root cause of acne) and extremely mild AHA that does not irritate surrounding already sensitized skin. So when Haku Namah Tantra approached me to try their Micellar Gel Exfoliator, I screamed yes without thinking twice.

A little about the brand (exclusive scoop):

Haku Namah Tantra is a sober, sensual, and mindful home-grown skincare brand from Coimbatore created by a 28-year-old solopreneur, after working for a palette of Indian skincare brands.

The product, which took almost a year for perfecting the formula, is made to be quite gentle on the skin (only tough on acne) because it is created with people using retinoids in mind.

There’s also a personal touch to the product. In addition to its benefits, Ice apple extract (palmyra) was added as it was a nostalgic part of Summers in the creator’s dad’s village, near Tirunelveli, where palmyra is found in abundance.

Key ingredients:

Salicylic acid works amazingly well for acne, there’s no doubt about it. Because it is oil soluble, it works at pore level and removes all trapped dirt, sebum and impurities and thus fight acne.

Trehalose is a naturally occurring sugar which is found in foods such as honey & mushrooms. It helps maintain skin moisture level and keep it hydrated and plump.

Pineapple extracts contain bromelain, a mixture of enzymes, which helps to gently exfoliate the skin thus removing tan and dead skin cells.

Ice apple extracts provide cooling effect and help soothe sensitized skin.

How to use:

Take few pumps of the gel and apply a thin layer on clean, dry and unbroken skin, avoiding eye and lip area. Keep it on for 5-10 minutes and then wash it off with plain water. Follow it up with a moisturizer. It can be used once a week.

Because this is an exfoliator, it is advised to use it during night time. And needless to mention, always use a sunscreen during daytime.

My verdict on Haku Namah Tantra Micellar Gel Exfoliator:

I have been using this gel exfoliator for more than a month now and saw some visible results in just one day. The before-after pictures will validate my experience. The pictures on the left are taken before applying the gel exfoliator at night and the ones on the right are taken on the very next day.

Over night results I experienced were ~ skin texture improved, bumps became smaller and less visible, white heads were considerately smaller (if not disappeared), inflamed skin had soothed down, size of huge pimple lessened. Over a period of time my skin became clear, over all texture improved and it looked healthier.

The Micellar Gel Exfoliator is non-irritating, doesn’t sting the skin (not even once). It didn’t sensitize my skin at all. My skin doesn’t feel dry post wash. It works amazingly well on acne, clarifies the skin gently and makes it soft and supple.

This product is gifted but I am definitely going to repurchase once I am done with the current bottle. I highly highly recommend this product, it is going to be a saviour for people having acne prone skin.

Note: Always make sure to do a patch test before incorporating any new product in your routine.
