La Shield Pollution Protect Mineral Sunscreen Gel SPF 50 | Review

I am obsessed with two things ~ sunscreens & lipsticks. And I have to try every brand and product unless I find that perfect match ticking all my needs. But, I never stop because 1) erratic mind and 2) being a beauty blogger. So, when I saw newly launched sunscreens by La shield, I immediately grabbed one of them to test. Continue reading my review on La Shield Pollution Protect Mineral Sunscreen Gel before making a purchase.

La Shield Pollution Protect Mineral Sunscreen Gel

Price: Rs.280 for 50g product. This is extremely affordable It was the price that intrigued me into purchasing the product in the first place!

It has an SPF of 50 with PA+++. (SPF denotes UVB protection power while PA rating denotes UVA protection. To understand in depth, click here.)

Texture: Let me clear in the first place that the texture of this sunscreen is NOT gel like, not at all. It is more cream like that feels quite nourishing. The sunscreen has a pleasant fragrance.

Ingredients:

There are various UV filters like~

  • Cinoxate UVB
  • Zinc Oxide UVA1 UVA2 UVB
  • Titanium Dioxide UVA2 UVB
  • Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine UVA1 UVA2
  • Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate UVA1 UVA2
  • Diethylhexyl Butamido Triazone UVA2 UVB (mainly used for water resistant formulations. Also is super photostable, loses only upto 10% of its SPF after 24 hours ~ with other filters it is just 2 hours!)

So basically this sunscreen has a combination of UV filters that provide broad spectrum protection which is a plus point.

Does La Shield Pollution Protect Mineral Sunscreen Gel leave a white cast?

Yes my friends, it leaves an evident white cast which takes a while (read a few minutes) to subside but not disappear. The cast also messes up with makeup and makes it look ashy at times. Though the sunscreen doesn’t pill, it leaves a weird shine that starts looking dull after some time.

My verdict on La Shield Pollution Protect Mineral Sunscreen Gel:

I had high hopes with this sunscreen but at the same time I was willing to use it on hands and legs only! For the first couple days I used it on my hands and observed that a typical and weird white layer formed whenever I washed my hands. It took me 2 days to realize that it was because of this sunscreen. When it comes contact with water, it forgets that it is water resistant (lol) and starts creating whitish later and spots. This sunscreen would feel quite heavy for oily skinned people especially during this hot weather. Albeit, I’d still not wear it during winters because I am not fond of the feel of it. And did I mention it has a terrible flash back? One thing though, it does provide good sun-protection because I’ve been applying it on my feet and haven’t seen any tanning lines yet. I now have a sunscreen exclusively for the feet!

Will I repurchase? Despite this being so affordable, no!

Suitable for: those having dry to normal skin along with being fair to medium

Cons: not water resistant, looks weird, not suitable for oily skinned people, imparts grey cast, feels heavy.
