ELF Superclarify cleanser | Review

Honestly, I had anticipated that ELF launch on Nykaa would be the most exciting launch of the year. But looking at the number of products launched along with some of their exorbitant price tag, my excitement went down the drain. However, I kept and eye and one fine day when there was good discount, I purchased ELF Superclarify cleanser. I have been using it for over a month and have firm thoughts about it. Continue reading…

Aqua, Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Glycereth-7, Peg-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Niacinamide, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Cocamide Mea, Glycol Stearate, Dmdm Hydantoin, Disodium Edta, Citric Acid, Butylene Glycol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate.

The ingredient list is pretty simple, a bunch of surfactants, niacinamide, lavender EO, some compounds to make the formula stable, that’s it! (and iske 1100Rs, ghor anyaay!)

Texture: ELF Superclarify cleanser has a very runny texture. In fact, I don’t think the tube packaging is apt for it because as soon as you open the cap, the product starts oozing out without any control. A pump dispenser would’ve been much convenient in this case.

Pro tip ~ store the tube upside down (tail portion down and cap portion up). This way when you open the bottle, the product won’t ooze out uncontrollably.

This cleanser has a beautiful fragrance. It’s definitely not just the Lavender EO. Or is it? But I love the fragrance so much. It reminds me of It’s Skin Tiger Cica Calming serum for some reason.

ELF Superclarify cleanser lathers pretty well and is perfect to be used during the night time. It can even be used as a second cleanser as it effectively removes dirt, sebum and residual makeup, if left after the first cleanse.

My verdict on ELF Superclarify cleanser:

I would’ve loved it if it weren’t so pricey. The cleanser is basic, cleanses well, smells good, has nice packaging and all, but all this doesn’t justify the price! It has mostly been a part of my night time skincare routine. I usually use cleansing oil first then follow up with this cleanser. I prefer mild cleanser for mornings like Zilch Facewash Jelly which is both gentle and nourishing. It didn’t sensitize my skin or aggravate the acne. Also, it doesn’t make the skin overly dry post wash. Despite all the good points, there is a major con ~ it stings man! Even after washing off the lather completely, when I open my eyes, it stings. I have to splash water a couple times more to get rid of that stinging. Most facewashes sting if you accidentally open eyes while lathering but stinging after cleansing isn’t normal, at least not for me.

Suitable for: if you have excessive money and don’t know where to spend it, then get the ELF Superclarify cleanser. Jokes apart, this cleanser would be suited best for people having normal to combination/oily skin types; provided you get it on discount.
