MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask | Review

I don’t have permanent dandruff but I tend to get itchy and flaky scalp during weather change or during the time when I have much stress. Also, my hair is chemically treated so I can’t just use any product as per my wish. It might damage my hair more or might interfere with the longevity of the treatment. So when I came across MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask that claims to treat itchy scalp and is also suitable for treated hair, I was more than happy to try it. Now that I’ve been using the mask for more than a couple months, I am ready to share my thoughts.

The texture of MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask is pretty thick. It feels as creamy as body butter and has a fragrance that’s dominated by tea tree essential oil. You’ll need a scoop or two for one-time use.

Keep in mind this mask is meant to be used before shampoo and not after! The mask doesn’t feel heavy like oil and washes off well. Also, this isn’t a conditioner replacement.

Ingredients:

MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask contains argan oil and coconut oil which help in providing nourishment, essential oils like Lemon, tea tree, cedarwood & rosemary which help in cleansing of the scalp, provide anti-bacterial & anti-microbial properties which in turn reduce dandruff. It also contains Piroctone Olamine which is a proven anti-dandruff ingredient that also promotes hair growth.

I’d recommend you read this little article on Piroctone Olamine here (only if you are interested). I don’t want to make this post super long by including everything.

How to use MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask?
  • Wet your hair (I like to spray water over dry hair)
  • Take out a scoop or couple and apply all over the hair length as well as on the scalp
  • I like to massage it for a couple of minutes (this step is optional but I do it anyway)
  • Keep it for minimum a15 minutes and wash it off with a shampoo and conditioner (I usually keep it on for 2-3 hours on weekends)

My verdict on MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask:

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much because there is no way my seasonal dandruff can be cured (this is what I used to think!). But to my surprise, I saw results. After using the mask for 2 weeks, I noticed dandruff reducing to a great extent. Further a week or so, my scalp was mostly dandruff free! My hair was a lot smoother and the frizz was reduced to a great extent. My hair was never this soft and I am not exaggerating this even a bit. It didn’t mess with the chemical treatment at all (smoothening in my case). I am so happy with this mask that I purchased their argan oil hair mask as well! I’d highly recommend this mask for itchy scalp or dandruff issues. It legit works!

There is a con though! After treating my itchy scalp I thought the job of this mask was done. But within a week my scalp became itchy again. Maybe it’s because of the weather but yeah! I got dandruff again. So I went back to using MamaEarth Tea Tree Hair Mask. The conclusion? I feel the effect is temporary. Anyway, dandruff isn’t like a disease that can be cured completely by medicine but is a condition which needs constant treatment.
