Plum NaturStudio Kajal | Review

If you love wearing kajal as much as I do then you are pretty much aware of Plum NaturStudio Kajal. This is a much-raved product which every beauty lover is fond of. But is it really worth it? Is it hyped for all the right reasons? Continue reading to know my few cents on it.

Plum NaturStudio Kajal

Price: Rs.495 for 1.2g. Though a little pricey, you get almost double the quantity of a conventional kajal pencil. Also, keep in mind that quite a lot gets wasted while sharpening. So, more or the less, you’ll get a kajal pencil for Rs.495 (forget the quantity, you’ll never be able to compare it with a conventional twist up kajal pencil).

Plum NaturStudio Kajal comes in a regular pencil form which needs to be sharpened from time to time. I admit, it breaks the heart to see product wastage while sharpening, but such packaging is helpful in maintaining the pencil texture soft. If it were to come in a twist-up packaging, the product would’ve dried up in a couple of weeks. (just like pot liners, you might’ve experienced how fast they dry).

In a pencil form, only a little part of the product is exposed and hence the kajal remains soft enough to be able to apply smoothly.

Texture & Formula:

Plum NaturStudio Kajal imparts gel-like finish which achieves intense black colour within a couple of swipes. Refer to the above picture wherein the upper swatch is of couple swipes and the lower one is swiped multiple times.

The formula consists of hydrogenated castor oil, Vitamin E and Rice Bran wax. I am not sure whether this is the complete ingredient list but the brand states that it is preservative-free, paraben-free, mineral oil-free, paraffin-free and vegan.

What I like about the brand is that they have clearly stated “Do note that owing to its high-performance benchmark, this product is not all natural – but is 100% safe and tested by dermatologists and ophthalmologists.

You’ll also get a sharpener free along with the kajal. There’s no need to buy a separate sharpener and you’ll save some money here. The sharpener does its job nicely without breaking off the tip every now and then (which various other sharpeners tend to do).

My verdict on Plum NaturStudio Kajal:

Coming right to the point, I LOVE this kajal. I’ve lost times to how many times this has been repurchased. It is intensely black, glides on very smoothly and imparts colour right in a couple of swipes. Plum NaturStudio Kajal works amazingly well as eyeliner and stays on for as long as you’d like. It is waterproof and smudge-proof (up to quite an extent). Though, you’ll need to sharpen it, again and again, to get ta precise wing. On the waterline, it stays beautifully till the end of the day with minimal fading. My eyes are quite watery and this is the only kajal that survives for so long. There’s no sensitivity or itchiness whenever I’ve used this kajal.

Despite all the goodness, I could sum up a couple cons~

  1. This does dry out quickly. If my kajal pencil stays beyond 2 months or so, it loses its smoothness and starts tugging on the skin. (Hence try finishing it as early as possible)
  2. No matter how essential the packaging might be, it still breaks my heart whenever I sharpen the pencil and see the product wastage.

I’ve created graphic liner using Plum NaturStudio Kajal on my Instagram. Do visit and let me know your thoughts.
