Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover | Review

Do you double cleanse? If yes, then cleansing balms/oils must be your favourite. I never thought I might try a traditional makeup removing cream but when I came across Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover, I instantly thought of purchasing. Read on to know my thoughts on it.

What is double cleansing?  As the name suggests, double cleansing involves 2 steps.

  1. Makeup/sunscreen removing
  2. Following it up with a cleanser/facewash

Double cleansing is not just for those who apply makeup. A face wash is not capable of washing away sunscreen or pollution entirely. As a result of which the pores clog and result in acne. Double cleansing not only removes makeup & sunscreen but also helps in removing pollution/dirt particles from the skin. A face wash is used to remove any leftovers after that.

One can use micellar water, makeup removing creams, oils, balms, etc for a double cleanse.

Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover

Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover comes in a tube packaging with a leakproof cap. The packaging is apt and travel-friendly. The texture of it is creamy-lotion like, on the runnier side. A coin-sized amount is needed for the entire face. It has a signature Avene fragrance (which many of its products have).

3 in 1 claim stands for Cleanses, removes makeup, soothes face & eyes.

How to use? Well! That is the biggest question because it is mentioned nowhere! I had to do a few trial and errors before arriving at the correct method. You need to apply Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover on dry face and massage it in circular motions. This will start melting the makeup and once you are done massaging, wipe it off with a towel/wet wipe. Majority makeup comes off easily this way and then it needs to be followed up with a face wash. (This doesn’t emulsify. Don’t even try to remove it with water! You’ll be left with a greasy face in the end).

This isn’t a stand-alone product. You’ll need to wash it off with a face wash irrespective of the skin type and amount of makeup/skincare you apply.

My verdict on  Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover:

This makeup remover impresses me at some places and woes me at another. I love how this gets rid of the base makeup and skincare effortlessly. There’s no need to tug and rub the wet wipe to remove makeup. But, this doesn’t work well for eyes. My eyes stung like hell whenever I used Avene 3 in 1 makeup remover to remove eye makeup. Also, it is not powerful enough to completely remove waterproof mascara and liner. The good thing is it doesn’t irritate my skin or clogs my pores as I haven’t broken out a single time after using this. I am still not sure whether or not to recommend this product. It works nicely for base makeup though. You can always give it a try.
