Schwarzkopf Professional Spa Essence Nourishing Shampoo | Review

Shampoos are something I experiment a lot with because of two reasons; firstly because very few of them tend to suit my frizzy hair hence I am always hunting and secondly because I keep getting bored of the ones that suit. I simply cannot stick to just one product for long (guilty as charged). Usually shampoos come in 300-400ml packaging but when I noticed a 1000ml bottle on Nykaa, I couldn’t resist. Let’s find out how Schwarzkopf Professional Spa Essence Nourishing Shampoo fared for me.

Schwarzkopf Professional Spa Essence Nourishing Shampoo

Price: Rs.1100 for 1000ml. Now this is a very attractive price point. The price might seem more but do notice that the quantity is waaaaaaaay more than a regular shampoo bottle (which is usually around 300ml).

Schwarzkopf Professional Spa Essence Nourishing Shampoo

Schwarzkopf Professional Spa Essence Nourishing Shampoo has a pathetic packaging. There is no pump! Imagine holding a 1litre bottle with wet hands in the shower with no control on the quantity of shampoo coming out. This was the first turn-off for me. Thanks to my clumsy hands I’ve dropped this bottle umpteen times on the floor. Luckily, it didn’t break! 😉

The texture of the shampoo is runny-lotion like which is pearlescent white in colour. It does smell good and the fragrance lingers for a while. The shampoo lathers easily and cleanses hair well even when oiled. It doesn’t make my hair dry post wash even when not oiled. However, I always use a nourishing mask post wash because hello! frizzy hair. The product claims that it smoothens the hair from inside out but I didn’t experience that.

My verdict on Schwarzkopf Professional Spa Essence Nourishing Shampoo:

I have been using this shampoo since 4-5 months now (maybe even more) and really wanted to like it, but alas! This is just a normal shampoo for me that clenses well, nothing apart from that. There’s no improvement in hair frizz, smoothness or shine. For someone who has normal/good hair naturally, this might be a good option as it cleanses well and the fragrance is good. My husband likes it though. He said that it makes his hair soft and shiny. Honestly, I don’t trust his review on a shampoo because he says the same for Head & Shoulders as well (and man! it is super drying). However, I managed to finish this huge bottle by using in conjunction with a nourishing hair mask. I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this.

Suitable for: those having normal/naturally good hair might benefit out of it

My hair type: dry and frizzy
