What are ceramides and why do we need them in our skincare routine?

Ceramides are nothing but lipids that are found in the upper most layer of the skin i.e. epidermis. You can consider them as a substance which holds the skin cells (just like cement holds the bricks). Ceramides help in preventing moisture loss and also protect the skin against damage from pollution and other external factors.

You’d be surprised to know that Ceramides are one step ahead of retinol when it comes to anti-aging powerhouse.

Due to certain factors like age & sun damage, the effectiveness of natural skin’s ceramides decreases with time. So applying ceramide based products topically help in restoring what’s been depleted. Ceramides help in anti-aging (of course!) and obtaining plump, smooth, firm and hydrated skin.

My verdict on The FormulaRX Barrier Relief moisturizer:

This moisturizer has a gel like texture but don’t be deceived by appearances. Despite being gel-like and so light weight, there’s no compromise with nourishment. This moisturizer has the perfect balance of hydration and nourishment without feeling heavy or imparting an oily look. I’ve used it both during day and night time and always found my skin nourished.

The best part about this moisturizer is that it can be used with almost all actives. Ceramides are pretty easy to layer with other actives without any sort of complications. Hence if you have this moisturizer in your stash, blindly apply it after using any XYZ active (without even thinking twice).

Brownie points to the brand for keeping the packaging 100% recyclable. This includes the tube, its cap and the cardboard box in which it comes.

Suitable for: all skintypes including acne prone and sensitive. People having fungal acne, please do a patch test and then incorporate in your routine.
