Suganda Anti Oxidant Face Serum | Review
Being a lover of Vitamin C in general, I get excited whenever a new product launches in the market. So when I was approached by one of my favourite brands Suganda to try and review their serum, I was super excited. I have been religiously using Suganda Anti Oxidant face serum for 3 weeks now and feel ready to share my 2 cents on its efficacy.
Price: Rs.1000 for 20ml. It has an expiry of 1 year. It is slightly on the pricier side I feel, the quantity could’ve been 30ml for this price.
You can get your hands on the serum from Suganda website: https://suganda.co/products/antioxidant-face-serum
Texture: Suganda Anti Oxidant face serum has almost water-like consistency. It has a slight sweet herbaceous scent to it. 4-5 drops are enough for one time use.
On the website, it is mentioned that the colour of the serum is supposed to be muddy orange to light brown. I’ve asked the brand for this clarification as mine is white. Will update their response as and when I receive.
Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (stable vitamin C), Propanediol (humectant, solvent), Glycerin (humectant), Gotu Kola Extracts (anti-oxidant, skin-soothing), Curcumin Extracts (anti-oxidant, antiseptic, skin brightening, fights aging), Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprlyl Glycol, Xanthan Gum, Hyaluronic Acid (humectant), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Kashmiri Lavender essential Oil.
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate is a form of Vitamin C which works at a pH of 6 (as opposed to Ascorbic acid which has a pH of 4). pH of 6 is widely tolerated by most of skintypes hence less are the chances of irritation. Vitamin C has many benifits like fighting aging, pigmentation, sun damage and promotes healthy skin. It is an amazing anti-oxidant.
How to use?
- It can be mixed with moisturizer
- Apply on bare face after toning and then follow up with a moisturizer
- When you need to use it in conjunction with acids, first use the acids and then apply Suganda Anti Oxidant face serum after a gap of 30 minutes. (I’d, however, suggest to stick to one active at a time).
- Can be used in conjunction with Niacinamide too.
Always, I repeat always, use a sunscreen. If you are skipping sunscreen, there is no use of including actives in your skincare routine. You can skip your moisturizer if your sunscreen is moisturizing enough.
My verdict on Suganda Anti Oxidant face serum:
I have been using it for 3 weeks, either morning or night, and I have already emptied one-third of the bottle. The serum isn’t moisturizing on its own hence always follow up with a moisturizer. It sinks into the skin in no time hence is good for layering products. I did purge out initially (got few pimples) but then my skin cleared within a week. I do see some improvement in texture and pigmentation left out by earlier acne has faded slightly. 3 weeks is too early to finalize a verdict but the first impressions are pretty good.
People with sensitive skin might react to the essential oil. So keep that in mind. Always do a patch test before using any skincare product for the first time. (apply the product on jawline or one small part of the face, observe if any irritation takes place in 24 to 48 hours).
