It is difficult to find that perfect sunscreen which suits your skin type & the weather and sits well under makeup. Hence, many beauty lovers are always doing trial and errors with various sunscreens just to come across that perfect one! Today I have taken one sunscreen out from that list of your’s so that you try one product less. Read my thoughts on St. Botanica Vitamin C Sunscreen and decide whether it is worth your trial or not.

St. Botanica Vitamin C Sunscreen

Price: Rs.799 for 120ml. It has a shelf life of 24 months and needs to be finished within 12 months after opening the bottle.

It looks expensive but let’s do some math first. Most sunscreens come in 50g packaging and range from 400-600Rs. So basically you are getting more than double the quantity at a slightly higher price. And if you look for offers (which you will get, mostly) the price becomes cheaper!

St. Botanica Vitamin C Sunscreen

St. Botanica Vitamin C Sunscreen has a calamine lotion-like consistency. It is light weight and applies on the skin without imparting a white cast. The sunscreen gets absorbed rendering a soft glowy skin. It sits well under makeup too.

The fragrance of St. Botanica Vitamin C Sunscreen is very citrusy and fresh. I personally like it.

I know many of you’ll ask me whether it is safe to use Vitamin C during the daytime. I’d say yes and in conjunction with a sunscreen. Vitamin C used here is in the form of 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid which is a very stable form. It, in fact, protects the skin from UVB damage in addition to having brightening and anti-ageing properties.
How to use? Apply after moisturizing all over the face and neck, specially 15-20 minutes before stepping out in the sun. Reapply every 2 hours or so. I’ve used it on body too and it works perfectly fine. This doesn’t feel heavy at all nor makes my hands look greasy.

My verdict on St. Botanica Vitamin C Sunscreen:

Though the brand claims it is mineral-based, it contains chemical sunscreen ingredients too. You can call it a hybrid type sunscreen and generally such sunscreens cater to all kinds of skin types. This has worked for me during both dry winter and humid summer times. I usually apply compact powder on a daily basis hence I can get away with the shine. This is a broad spectrum sunscreen hence it provides protection from both UVA and UVB rays. It doesn’t feel heavy or will make you sweat more. According to me, it will work best for oily, normal and dry skin types in conjunction with a moisturizer. If you have super oily skin you can get away just with this suncreen. For reference, I have dehydrated oily skin which is acne-prone and this hasn’t irritated it even once.

I am repurchasing this for sure. This product is free from sulphates, mineral oil and parabens. Also it is not tested on animals.
