Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser | Review | Luxury skincare
2019 is going to be a year of luxury, I had anticipated & “Splurge, but wisely” is my motto. The first thing in my wishlist had to be the cult favourite Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser. This was again one of those products with which I wasn’t impressed initially, but now I’ve been liking it to an extent that I might actually repurchase this in future.
Price: There are 2 variants in sizes ~ 75ml for Rs.750 & 150ml for Rs.1300. I got the full sized version. IT has a shelf life of 27 months and needs to be finished within 12 months after opening the tube.
Availability: Kiehl’s products are available both online and offline. I got mine from Nykaa.
You can purchase Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser here.
Ingredients:
Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Decyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Acrylates Copolymer, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Lauryl Glucoside, Sodium Chloride, Pentylene Glycol, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Distearyl Ether, Behenyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Laureth-2, Propylparaben, Sodium Methylparaben, Squalane, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil/Sweet Almond Oil, Prunus Armeniaca Kernel Oil/Apricot Kernel Oil, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Persea Gratissima Oil/Avocado Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid.
It does contain SLeS which is a milder surfactant and also has parabens, plus few fungal acne triggers. A detailed analysis can be obtained here at Skincarisma. But always note that we must not judge an ingredient alone, the formulation also matters a lot.
My verdict on Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser:
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser has a pearly-milky-gel like texture and hardly a pea-sized amount is needed. It lathers moderately and cleanses well. I have oily-dehydrated skin and this effectively cleanses away all without making my skin dry. I’ve used this during both morning and night time and loved the results. Also, it doesn’t sting my eyes at any point. The fragrance resembles that of chemical rubber. This bottle lasted me for a good 5 months with (almost) daily use. And for not even once did it irritate my skin or triggered acne.
The price point can be justified with the longevity of the product and non-drying cleansing but there are still few cons that cannot be overseen. It is not sulphate-free, has parabens and has few acne triggering ingredients. Hence, I’d not recommend this for very sensitive skin or those facing fungal acne issues. At least, do a patch test or try a sample before purchasing.
