Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact | Review
A powder sunscreen is still a new concept and it’s not quite often that we come across such products. Hence when Lakme launched its sunscreen compact, I did an impulsive shopping and grabbed one immediately. I was confused whether to categorize this post under skincare or makeup, but finally, I am posting it today which means it is placed under makeup category. Read on to know my thoughts on Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact.
The compact retails for Rs. 210 and we get 7gm of product. This is the cheapest sunscreen out there (I believe)!
There are no shades available as such. Hence I doubt how this can cater to various skintones. As far as my case goes, this does suit my skintone. (around NC40).
I love the concept of sunscreen in a powder form. It means no greasy residue or white cast or an awful base for makeup. But one has to keep in mind that compact sunscreens do not provide as much protection as the cream ones do. Because practically we can apply only a little amount of powder on face whereas the amount needed to provide protection is way more than that. And that is the reason I didn’t classify Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact under skincare category. It is a makeup product and one shouldn’t rely on this alone for sun protection.
To my surprise, there’s no ingredient list mentioned! I know no one is bothered to know ingredients in their makeup compact but when it is being sold with an added SPF factor, I do need to know what stuff is being added! I checked their website, packaging, leaflet, etc but failed to find even a single ingredient.
How to use? Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact can be used as a normal compact powder over foundations or on a bare face for an added layer of sun protection. Also, as this has a slight hint of colour, this sets the foundation quite well. I don’t recommend this to be used alone (reiterating). On their packaging, it has been mentioned to avoid using the compact nearby eye area.
My verdict on Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact:
The texture of the compact powder is not smooth, you can feel the particles in hand when you rub your fingers. Hence, this is great for those having oily skin as it will help in controlling oil. Dry skinned people might not find this to be a good match for their skin type as it does accentuate dry patches (if any). I don’t see any greyness or caked up look after applying this compact.
I use this as a touch-up product. Whenever I blot my face and feel it needs to be set with a powder, I use Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact. It not only sets my face but also provides a layer (though minimal) of sun protection as if I were reapplying a sunscreen over makeup. I find it effective that way as it has an SPF of 40 with a protection grade of PA+++.
Have you used Lakme Sun Expert Ultra Matte Compact? How do you like it, let me know!

I haven’t tried this product as Lakme products have never seemed to work for me. Great pictures though!

I too was eyeing this product as compact with sunscreen intrigued me. But I have dry skin. So I don’t think this will suit me…

It has been so long since I have got any Lakme products! A Lakme compact used to be a staple in my kit back in early college days… This sounds good!

Am heading to the market right now to get this as I am tempted by your review 🙂
You are right in not categorising this as skincare as compact sunscreens do not provide as much protection.
But this is surely worth s try.
