Maybelline Colorshow Bright Matte Lipstick | Review & Swatches
I am having a ton of lipsticks to review at present. Hence you’ll be getting more of lipstick posts these days. All these back to back new launches are to be blamed. Recently Maybelline went crazy and launched new ranges almost every next week. The latest addition being Maybelline Colorshow Bright Matte Lipstick. Let’s know a little more about them.
Price: These fall towards the affordable range, priced at ₹325.
Packaging: Conventional packaging just like previous lipsticks in the Colorshow range. Black case with a colour coded centre.
Shades: There are 6 bright shades in this range. I got the shade Lively Rose. It is a beautiful bright pink with hints of coral which will suit fair to medium-deep skintones.
Texture: It has a very smooth texture which glides like a butter on the lips. The finish is not entirely matte and has a slight sheen to it. Because of the smooth texture, a little effort has to be put in to get the even finish.
It smells delicious, like khatta meetha gole ka sherbat. (so mouthwatering!)
Pigmentation: The colour payoff is lovely but not opaque. The pigmentation on the lips can be noticed as the bright colour becomes a little muted in those areas.
Staying power: And here comes the worst part. Like I initially mentioned, it takes some effort to get an even finish out of this lipstick. But the struggle doesn’t end there. Within like 2 hours of application, the lipstick starts fading and settling in the finest of the lip lines which doesn’t look flattering at all. Also, it tends to gather at one place and gains some weird texture. Look at that gross picture yourself. 🙈
My verdict on Maybelline Colorshow Bright Matte Lipstick:
Though the lipstick is non-drying and comfortable, the finish that it gives is a major negative. I am so glad that I wasn’t highly intrigued and picked just one because this isn’t even worth the (lower) price. It is not matte, transfers easily, not long lasting and settles into the lip lines. With so many negatives in just one lipstick, we can’t just buy them just for the lovely shades.
Save yourself some money and don’t fall for the lower price when it comes to Maybelline Colorshow Bright Matte Lipstick. I will not recommend this even to beginners. Their earlier range of Colorshow is much better than this. It’s high time Maybelline takes Indian market seriously.
