Almost every Indian girl has at least one kajal in her makeup vanity. I’ve been using kajal since my 1st standard (or maybe even younger but I don’t remember that). Any new kajal in market grabs my attention and I end up buying it. I have a soft spot for kajal, I think everybody has! Today, I’m reviewing this kajal pencil from Colorbar. I don’t know whether it is a new launch but it is new to me. Saw it on Nykaa and immediately ordered. Let’s start with the review..

Price: Rs.299 for 0.35g of product with a shelf life of 30 months.

Packaging: It comes in a black twist and turn plastic tube, very convenient to use and yes, it does twist back (unlike the MAC liners, I guess). I like retractable pencils more than the conventional wooden ones that need to be sharpened. It saves product and is a lot easier to use.

Texture & Pigmentation: The texture is quite creamy and glides on smoothly without tugging or pulling the skin. One swipe gives a jet black finish when swatched on hand but when applied on lower lashline, a couple of swipes is needed to get the same finish.

Staying power: When swatched on hand or on lids, it stays for the entire day unless to rub it. It also seems smudge proof when rubbed with light hands.But an intense rubbing is going to smudge this. When applied on lashline, it doesn’t seem so smudge proof. Once you rub your eyes, it’s going to come off. It stays for around 5 hours, when untouched, after which it starts fading on its own.

Claims:

Waterproof: Yes, it is waterproof but not wash proof.

Smudgeproof: Not on waterline. It does smudge when rubbed a little. (Doesn’t smudge on its own).

Blackest of Black: Yes, it is an intense black coloured kajal.

Vitalizing & Moisturizing formula: Yes, doesn’t feel dry or irritate the eyes.

Mineral oil & preservative free: That’s good.

Extremely soft and creamy: Yes, it is very soft and creamy which makes it glide on the eyes super smoothly

High-intensity coverage: Two swipes and the perfect finish is obtained.

Blends immediately after application: I quite didn’t get this one!

It claims of Unique defensil System that reduces inflammation and irritation.

The verdict: All in all, this is a great kajal for beginners. This cannot be compared with Plum Nature Studio kajal or any high-end kajal by any means. My first buys were Faces magneteyes & Lotus colorkick ones. It lasts the entire day on waterline (if taken a little care of) and is great for college or office wear. It gives intense feel to the eyes and I like it. Had the staying power been a little more, it would have been better, but at this price, you cannot ask for more!

Who can try this out?

Almost anyone and everyone! At this price, it a worth try, especially for beginners. A decent product for the price.
