Skincare tips which my 25year-old-self was unaware of!
Hello, my Ladies!🤗
I was never a makeup person back in my college days. Neither was I particular about my skincare routine. Why? 🤔 Because, I think, I was not really aware of its effects and also because of my lack of knowledge. All this ignorance has led to many skin-related issues which now has become my biggest concern. And down the lane when I ponder upon this, I wish I had someone to tell me the importance of skincare and shared few tips which would’ve proven a benefit. But as there was none for me, I decided to do a post sharing my skincare tips for all young ladies out there so that at least you can learn from my mistakes and ignorance.👍🏻
Skincare is an important aspect that one should never ignore. Irrespective of your skin type or your age, you should never stop taking good care of your skin. So, I am sharing some of the tips that I think shall help you in the long run. Also, when you reach your 30’s, don’t thank me, instead, share these tips with the younger lot.😌 I have provided options keeping combination to oily skin type in mind.
So, jotting down the points in no particular order:
Back in my early 20’s, I tried almost every moisturizer which ultimately led to multiple breakouts & made my skin extremely sensitive. I never knew that a noncomedogenic product will not only keep my pores from getting clogged but will also allow my skin to breathe which is a good thing. Carefully choose a moisturizer which not only suits your skin type but also cater your needs.
Some good options to consider are:
Clean & Clear Oil Free Moisturizer
Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Combination Skin or any other moisturizer which suits your skin type.
I can’t really emphasize on how much a sunscreen is important for your skin. I never really wore a sunscreen until a few years back and this has damaged my skin like anything. So, you should incorporate sunscreen for both face and body.
Some effects of sunlight on your skin: Irritation, sun burn, tanning, allurgies, damaging of cells in layers of skin, spots, pigmentation and premature ageing. (Hope, you get it now!)
Some good options to consider are:
For face:
Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50,
Lotus Herbals Safe Sun 3-In-1 Matte Look Daily Sunblock SPF-40
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+
For body:
Lotus Herbals Safe Sun Anti Tan Body Lotion SPF-25
Nivea Sun Moisturising Lotion SPF 50
An under eye cream is not just meant to combat wrinkles and skin sagging but it helps retain the moisture of under eye and prevent skin in becoming dry. Which eventually helps in keeping fine lines at bay. Initially, you can use light cream like
Aroma Magic Almond Under Eye Cream
or an eye gel Aroma Magic Under Eye Gel which provides enough moisturization and prevents premature aging in the long run.
I got fine lines under my eyes because my under eyes are very much dry & I never used an eye cream in my mid-twenties. Do learn from my mistake!
Simply using a facewash is not enough. NO! A lot of dirt and pollution particles still remain stuck in your pores which can be cleaned only by using a toner. Use of a toner post facewash makes sure that every single bit of dirt is removed from your face as well as pores. This will help in preventing pimples significantly. Trust me!
Look for alcohol-free toners in the market. Some good options to consider are
Sebamed Clear Face Deep Cleansing Toner
Our body does all of it’s healing process at night, while we sleep. 😴 So if proper products are used, this might enhance the results. A night cream should be applied only After removing every single bit of dirt from your face. Initially, you can use a mild cream like Garnier Skin Naturals White Complete Night Cream but I strongly recommend you to start using an anti-aging night cream if you are above 25 years. Anti-aging products are not meant only for old people, NO! They are also meant for prevention of skin aging and delaying the entire process. So feel free to use anti-aging products after 25. A good option to consider is:
Lotus Herbals YouthRx Anti Ageing Nourishing Night Creme.
I cannot really stress upon this! Using an alcohol-free deodorant is very much important for your under arms. This is not going to darken them or cause any irritation, in addition to keeping you odour free for whole day long.
My personal favourite is Nivea Whitening Smooth Skin Roll On and I am going to use this for the rest of my life.
I used to chew my nails as well as cuticles a lot during my college time and later. This had made the appearance of my nails and cuticles horrible. I know it is hard to resist but once you start applying a nail-cuticle cream and see your beautiful hands, you’ll quit chewing forever! (This trick worked out for me.) Also, cracked heels are not a pleasant sight and sometimes they are also painful. So why wait for them to appear? As rightly said, prevention is better than cure, look for a good foot cream and start using. You’ll only get soft feet in return!
Some good options are Olive Hand Cuticle Cream & Choco-Latte Not Just Another Foot Cream. Or you can just rub olive oil on both hands and feet and that should work pretty well.
I used to skip water because I didn’t like using public loos. I still do it while traveling. But I don’t really recommend this because our body needs water. We should have at least 8 glasses of water per day. A majority of skin related issues will be resolved by this. Initially, this is going to feel uncomfortable but your body will get used to it within few days and then a habit will be formed. And your job will be done!
So, these were my tips. hope you find these helpful. Share them with your friends and acquaintances, you never know who might benefit from a little information. Also, let me know whether I should do this kind of series in other areas as well like makeup or haircare. I’ll be more than glad to do those as well. Also, let me know which is the advice/skincare tip you would like to give to your younger self?

And I keep forgetting!!! I really can’t have 8 glasses of water a day, consciously! If you know what I mean. 🙈
He he I know 😉

Nonetheless, better late than never. We can take care of our skin, starting from NOW!
Thank you love for reading my post.
Loved reading your post on skincare! I agree too that when I was in my teens I took good care of my skin. By 17-20 I just stop caring before I realized the damages I was doing. Now at 22 I take good care of my skin and use top notch products. Is there a specific cleanser you use?
at present I am using The Body Shop tea tree face wash for days when I get pimples & Vichy Normaderm Gel on the other days. In the mornings I use Avene cleanace gel because it is mild.
P.S. I have combination to oily skin.
thank you so much hon for reading my post.
