The Faceshop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Lotion | Review |Oily skin

Hydration is my first priority in sweltering summers. Hence I tend to pick gels and lotions for this season. This not only helps in fighting excessive sebum production but also feels light on the skin. I have been using The Faceshop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Lotion for quite some time and now I feel ready to spill the beans about the efficacy of this Korean product.

The Faceshop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Lotion

Price: Rs. 1290 for 130ml product.

Availability: The Faceshop products are available only online (as far as I know) on websites like Amazon & Nykaa.

Packaging: It comes in a bottle which looks like a glass bottle but is actually made of plastic. It is semi-transparent which shows how much product is left in the bottle. There is a pump dispenser which I appreciate and there is also a cap which works as a stopper and prevents spilling of the product.

The Face Shop Jeju Volcanic Lava is a skincare line that contains volcanic soil, a rare natural ingredient that effectively absorbs sebum and cleanses the pores.

Ingredients: WATER/EAU, SASA QUELPAERTENSIS EXRACT, TRIETHYLHEXANOIN, DIPROPYLENE GLYCOL, HIZIKIA FUSIFORME EXTRACT, AKEBIA QUINATA EXTRACT, TRIMETHYLOLPROPANE TRICAPRYLATE/TRICAPRATE, DIMETHICONE, TRI-C14-15 ALKYL CITRATE, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, GLYCERIN, MYRISTICA FRAGRANS (NUTMEG) EXTRACT, VOLCANIC ASH, CITRUS MEDICA LIMONUM (LEMON) PEEL OIL, CITRUS AURANTIUM DULCIS (ORANGE) OIL, CITRUS GRANDIS (GRAPEFRUIT) PEEL OIL, LAVANDULA ANGUSTIFOLIA (LAVENDER) OIL, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF OIL, CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA (BERGAMOT) FRUIT OIL, ROSE FLOWER OIL, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) FRUIT OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, PANTHENOL, HYDROGENATED PHOSPHATIDYLCHOLINE, POLYGLUTAMIC ACID, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, STEARIC ACID, GLYCERYL STEARATE, PEG-100 STEARATE, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, CETEARYL OLIVATE, SORBITAN OLIVATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DIMETHICONOL, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, SILICA, CARBOMER, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC GLYCERIDES, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOL, CITRUS PARADISI (GRAPEFRUIT) EXTRACT, DISODIUM EDTA, POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE.

The ingredient list is pretty decent that has a combination of skin-conditioners, humectants, occlusives, blend of oils, sebum absorber, purifying ingredient that works for clogged pores & oily skin and anti-aging.

Texture

Texture: The Faceshop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Lotion has a runny consistency which is very suitable for oily skinned people. It gets absorbed into the skin and doesn’t feel heavy or greasy. It hydrates well. But it cannot be used as a stand-alone product in a routine. It doesn’t moisturize much and despite such high temperature, my skin yearns for a moisturizer (within half an hour) after applying this. There is a pleasant fragrance which is soothing and not at all bothersome.

My verdict on The Faceshop Jeju Volcanic Lava Pore Lotion:

Despite having a decent ingredient list, the pore lotion did absolutely nothing to my skin. Neither for the pores nor for sebum production. It worked merely as a hydration step in my skincare routine. When a product comes at this price and boasts of amazing benefits but fails to deliver, it is a sheer disappointment. Though the bottle is going to last a lifetime, I became tired of using it after almost 2 months and finally gave it to my sister who is slowly stepping into the skincare game. You can get multiple serums/lotions in the market for lesser (if not half) the price for hydration. For me, it doesn’t provide enough moisturization to be used as a stand-alone product after applying toner. The only good thing is that it didn’t break me out or irritate my skin.

If you are looking for a hydrating product (to layer under a moisturizer) and ready to shell out money, then this product is for you. If you are looking for a product that’ll work for oily skin & pores then I’d suggest you look out for other alternatives.

For reference, I have oily-dehydrated skin which is sensitive and acne-prone. (deadly combination, I know!)
