Lakme 9to5 Primer+Matte Lipsticks | Review & Swatches | Indian skin

No girl can have enough lipsticks!” and there is no girl who will disagree with this statement. 😉 Today I’m going to talk about Lakme 9to5 Primer+Matte lipsticks. I have two shades and have been using these for more than a month. With respective to Lakme’s crazy back to back launches, these aren’t new anymore. But they still seem new and if you are planning on giving them a try, do read my review on these to get some idea about how these perform.

 Lakme 9to5 Primer+Matte Lipsticks

Price: Rs. 480 for 3.6g product.

Shades: There are around 36 shades in this range. The 2 shades I have are Maple Map & Brick Blush.

Availability: Lakme products are the most easily available products. You can find them anywhere and everywhere.

Shade description:

Brick blush is a coral-y red colour with hints of orange. The shade applies reddish but settles down to a muted brick shade (on my complexion) after an hour or so.

Maple Map is a brown nude with hints of coral. When worn alone, it washes me out very slightly but would be a great shade to sport with an intense smokey eye. Also, when paired with a slightly darker lip liner, the shade turns out to be a great everyday nude shade for me.

Texture: Both the shades have a slightly different formula. Brick blush is slightly more waxy and patchy to apply. The pigment doesn’t apply that evenly but a little finger dabbing solves the problem. Maple Map has a more creamy formula that glides very smoothly and applies evenly. Lakme 9to5 Primer+Matte Lipsticks have a sweet vanilla scent which I am very fond of.

Pigmentation & Staying power: Both the shades impart (I’d say 80%) coverage with multiple swipes application. Their staying power isn’t that great. I was expecting more from them as these have been highly marketed as primer+matte long-wearing lipsticks. These last for maximum 3 hours after which they start fading away.  The shade Brick Blush fades with a slight stain though.

The finish is satin matte which is very comfortable on the lips. These aren’t transfer-proof but then, they don’t bleed either. 🤷

My verdict on  Lakme 9to5 Primer+Matte Lipsticks:

Though not long lasting, I like their formula for daily wear. Moreover, these can easily be grabbed at a much cheaper rate during Nykaa sale. Plus look at that rose gold packaging! Tell me your heart doesn’t melt for this? 🤔 If you are looking for a daily wear lipstick without much expectation, then you are going to like these. But if you are looking for long-wearing, smudge-proof, entirely matte formula with full coverage then better stay away from this range.
