Lakme Masaba Lips | Review and Swatches | Indian skintone

I know, I am the last person on this planet to review these! Lakme Masaba Lips got a huge launch on Nykaa and for a moment, almost everyone was talking about their fun packaging. I too got carried away with the wind and ordered 2 shades right within the first week of their launch. I’ve been trying to review these since then but wasn’t able to make up my final thoughts. I think it’s now time to finally decide my thoughts on Lakme Masaba Lips.

Lakme Masaba Lips

Price: These retail for 750Rs. each and we get 3.7g product.

Availability: These were initially Nykaa exclusive & were supposed to be available on Lakme counters after a month. (Didn’t verify that)

Shades: Lakme Masaba Lips have been launched in 10 shades (two each for brown, pink, red, peach & bold).

I got two shades: Cotton Candy & Hot Pink Queen.

Packaging: These come in a twist up packaging with lots of funkiness and vibrant colours. The good part is there is no need of a separate sharpener. The tube is not colour coded, hence you’ll have to kind of remember the shade and its respective packaging.

Texture: Lakme Masaba Lips have a crayon-like texture. As seen in the picture, these don’t look smooth and creamy or buttery, unlike other lipsticks. They smell sweet, almost like a vanilla scent.

Pigmentation & Staying power: These are quite pigmented, a couple of swipes and they cover pigmented lips entirely. But these are neither creamy nor glide on the lips easily. These give a crumbling feeling right from the moment they touch the lips. Because of this, the finish comes out very flaky and doesn’t look flattering when observed from nearby.

These aren’t transfer-proof but tend to last for a long time without feeling drying. (But I had to rub my lips, again and again, to get rid of that flakiness.)

My verdict on Lakme Masaba Lips:

I had very high hopes from this launch but sadly, it didn’t live up to my expectations. There is no doubt that the shades and the packaging are the bomb but the texture is not what I had expected them to have. No matter, how much I exfoliate my lips, these always accentuate those lip lines which never existed in the first place! Plus, the crumbling-ness these tend to give doesn’t feel comfortable in the long run!

Swatches:

Lakme Masaba Lips
Hot Pink Queen: a wearable pink shade, will suit almost all skintones

Lakme Masaba Lips
Cotton Candy: a peachy nude (my favourite)

No doubt, I absolutely love the shades and the packaging, but (saying this with a very heavy heart) highly disappointed with the texture. And because of this, the price also seems a little on the costlier side. I am not getting more shades from the range. What about you? How is your experience with Lakme Masaba Lips? Do let me know.
