Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion | SPF 30+ | Review

I cannot emphasize upon the fact how important is sunscreen in our day to day lives. This one step should never (never ever) be avoided in a skincare routine, no matter what! I am always on a hunt for that perfect sunscreen which shall stay with me forever. On that quest, I came upon Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion and thought of giving it a try. Read my review to know more about it.

Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion

Price: ₹290 for 120ml product (quite affordable!!) and has a shelf life of 3 years.

Packaging: It has a very basic tube packaging with a little opening at the top. The bottle is a little stiff and has to be pressed hard to get the product out.

Texture: As rightly mentioned, Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion has the texture of a lotion. It is very light almost gel like. Despite such amazing texture, it takes time to completely absorbed into the skin and until the time it gets absorbed, it leaves a shiny layer on the face. (Which disappears after some time). Hence this will suit dry skinned people as well as it doesn’t have mattifying properties.

It has a faint ayurvedic fragrance, not bothersome at all. Also sometimes it balls up upon rubbing. Not always but this happens almost 50% of the time for me!🙄

Ingredients: The good thing is that it is made up of just 7 ingredients. And the bad thing is I can’t really make out how these ingredients are going to protect me from the sun? Let me break down the ingredients so that you too can figure it out.

Ghrit Kumari gel 2%- (Aloevera gel) Has soothing, inflammatory and cooling properties (believed, not proved)

Yashad bhasam 1%- (Zinc oxide) Physical sunscreen ingredient (minimum 5% of it is required to provide basic sun protection)

Surajmukhi Oil 8.2%-(Sunflower oil) Heals skin inflammation, acne and redness. It is also believed that  sunflower oil has an SPF between 5 and 15. (Didn’t find any concrete proof though)

White Sandalwood Oil 0.25%- Used as fragrance

Kusumbhi Oil 3%-(Safflower oil) Has the capability of unclogging pores and fights acne because of the presence of high linoleic acid. Also, it improves the overall texture of the skin.

Bees Wax 3.5%-Is an excellent humectant, rejuvenates the skin and doesn’t clog the pores.

Hence the ingredients list would have been pretty impressive if this was a noncomedogenic face moisturizer but for a sunscreen, these seem just non-satisfactory. (To me!)🤷🏻‍♀️

My verdict on Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion:

I was so skeptical about the sun protection fact that I wrote to the brand so that they can explain me the facts (if any) which I might have missed out. But sadly, they failed to fulfill my curiosity. When a brand itself can’t explain their ingredients’ efficacy, I expect nothing from the product. I can’t use Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion on its own for sun protection. Also, it doesn’t layer well under makeup on days when it balls up. I’ll probably use this as a moisturizer during winters as it leaves a visible shiny layer initially.  (I have to finish this bottle!)

This is how it balls up, sometimes!

Do I recommend Biotique Bio Aloe Vera Ultra Soothing Face Lotion? For a sunscreen, NO! But this can work wonderfully as a face moisturizer even for acne prone skin as the ingredients are non-comedogenic.
