Suncros Matte Finish Soft | Sunprotect Gel | Review

I know it’s monsoon and sunscreen is our last problem but I really needed to make this post before I mixed this sunscreen in my body lotion bottle. Why? You’ll get to know the reason soon! By the way, I was on a sunscreen hunt when I landed upon Suncros Matte finish sunprotect gel. I googled its reviews and found many. After being satisfied by them, I finally decided to buy one for myself. Let’s decode this product and find out whether it is a hit or a miss.

suncros

Price: Rs.575 for 50g and has a shelf life of 24 months.

Availability: Suncros sunscreens are easily available accross local pharmacies as well as at all ecommerce sites (Nykaa, Flipkart, Amazon.in).

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Zinc Oxide (Micronized), C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Dimethicone Cross Polymer, Caprylyl Methicone, Isostearic acid, Polyhydroxystearic acid, PEG-12 Dimethicone/PPG-20 Crosspolymer, Tocopheryl Acetate

Packaging: It comes in a simple plastic tube with a comparatively wide opening. which doesn’t control the flow of product whatsoever.

Texture: This sunscreen by Suncross has the weirdest texture I’ve seen so far. First of all, it smells of plastic, chemicals and rubber which is not at all pleasant. Also, the texture is highly siliconey (more towards slippery side) which is not at all uniform. There are lumps of a soft formula in a whitish fluid. Once you try to take out the product, mostly you’ll get a little dollop of cream and milky fluid along with it.

On the top there’s milky fluid and then there’s the dollop of cream

Efficacy: It doesn’t get absorbed into the skin completely, it just sits on the top. This is not at all an ideal base for makeup. It makes a thin layer of grease on the face which feels a little uncomfortable and heavy. Also, this will make oily skinned people get more oily. (“Might” be suitable for winters though).

Claims:

Matte finish: Not at all!

Chemical agent free: Yes! (It means it is free of chemical sunscreen ingredients)

Water resistant formula: Probably No! Because it makes my skin super oily and the product can easily melt away with all the oil.

Sunprotect gel: This is definitely not a gel formula!

Look at the way this blends!! Visible white cast while applying.

My verdict on Suncros Matte Finish Soft Sunprotect gel:

Summing up the positives: This sunscreen has zinc oxide and is totally free of chemical sunscreen ingredients (like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate). Hence it makes it suitable for sensitive skin and acne prone skin. It didn’t break me out either. Also, it is suitable for babies above 6 months. It has SPF 50 with PA+++ which definitely protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays, which is a HUGE plus point.

Coming to the cons: The texture is very weird, leaves a little white cast and takes forever to get absorbed into the skin. Dry skinned people might like this but people like me (combo/oily skinned) will definitely not like this. This just adds grease and oil on skin giving it an uncomfortable feeling.

For me, this is not an ideal choice of sunscreen. But I’ll definitely mix it with my body lotion and use further because there’s no chemical sunscreen and is pretty safe.
