The Body Shop matte lip liquid review | Sydney Amaryllis 014

Yaay!! Finally I got my hands on one of the Body Shop matte lip liquids. These are much hyped and have been praised all over for their formula. I was so intrigued that I had to get these. I wanted the Nairobi Camellia as well but it’s out of stock everywhere . It’s not available on their website too!!! So I finally settled for this.

Body Shop matte lip liquid

Coming to the liquid lip:

Price: Rs.695 for 8ml of product.

Packaging: Conventional colour-coded plastic tube with black matte cap. It has a doe-foot applicator, long enough for a precise application. It’s kind of similar to the NYX lipcreams and Miss Claire lipcreams but little taller.

Formula: The formula is not liquidy (as I has expected) instead it has a mousse texture to it. It comes out as lumps of colour but few swipes blends the pigment well giving a smooth liquid lipstick like finish. This lipstick is not at all drying because it sets to a velvety matte finish (this is coming from someone who has the driest lips on this planet, trust me!).

Fragrance: It has a chemical-fruity-bubblegum scent as opposed to sweet vanilla fragrance which all lipsticks these days have.

Pigmentation: This shade is very well pigmented. The colour payoff is good enough to cover my pigmented lips in a couple of swipes. The finish is smooth and even, there is no patchiness at all.

Staying power: This shade stayed for 4 hours easily after which it started to settle towards the outer side of my inner lips creating a darker line there (I hope you get me here!). But it is entirely manageable. All I did was smudge the dark line with my fingers and reapplied the lipstick on the inner side of lips and I was good to go for another 4-5 hours. In short, reapplication is pretty easy and the new application doesn’t stand out.

Transfer test: It is not entirely transfer proof but it stays put if remained untouched. And the lipstick does stay on lips even after transferring, meaning it doesn’t entirely gets rubbed off. All in all, it gives a comfortable feeling.

Positives:

  • Cruelty free
  • Long lasting
  • Easy reapplication
  • (Velvety) matte finish but not drying
  • Bright pigmented shades

The verdict: I love this range by The Body Shop. These liquid lips are so easy to wear, non-drying and very comfortable on the lips. Many peachy reds tend to wash me out but this one covers my pigmented lips and compliments my skintone. This shade shall suit almost every skintone. With such an amazing formula, these are going to be perfect for both long office hours and never ending parties.

Looking forward to buy more shades from this range!

Which are your favourite shades from this range?? Also, do recommend some shades to me as well..
